Candle Care
Wooden wick candles are simply enchanting. Each wooden wick will crackle like a tiny fireplace when burning, which is a unique and relaxing experience.
Simple instructions are given on the label of each candle, but here are some tips and tricks to get the most out of your beautiful candle …
• On the first burn please take care to burn your candle for at least 2-3 hours, to ensure the wax pool reaches the sides of the glass and to avoid tunnelling on future burns. However, never burn a candle for more than 4 hours. Continuing to burn the candle beyond 4 hours is a safety hazard and will reduce your candle life.
• Burn on a heat-resistant, flat surface. Keep away from drafts, children, pets, fabric or anything flammable. Always burn within sight and Never leave your burning candle unattended.
• Wooden wicks light slower than cotton wicks. It is comparable to lighting a fireplace. Hold your lighter (we use a barbecue lighter) close to the wick for 20 or more seconds to fully light the wick.
• Always aim to keep the wick trimmed to approximately 5mm. This keeps the flame at a safe height and allows optimum performance, we recommend breaking off the extra burnt wood before you light it.
• If you’d like to re-use your candle jar once you’re finished with your candle simply pour boiling water in (making sure you’ve got a metal spoon in the jar so the glass doesn’t crack!). The wax will then sit on the top and you can skim it off into the bin. Then wash your glass out or pop it in the dishwasher and it's ready to be re-used!
